Here, I present my favourite nine podcasts about history and culture (I will admit, many are about mythology) so you can get inspired and start having fun while learning something new.
#1. Sweetbitter
Sweetbitter is a podcast all about Sappho and queer women’s history! Hosted by very talented women, this podcast tries to shed some light on Sappho, the poetess from Lesbos, and through her poetry, they explore the society she lived in and homosexuality in Ancient Greece. Additionally, you’ll find interesting discussions on matters of scholarship and representation, that besides being poignant cam also be quite hilarious.
One thing that sets this podcast apart is that not only do they collaborate with experts in the fields they cover but they also make songs with Sappho’s words (with a very modern twist)!
